Tourism Forum 2007 offered an international platform for members of the industry to exchange views on quality tourism and services affecting tourism development in this region, the Financial Secretary, Mr Henry Tang, said today (June 15).
Mr Tang gave opening remarks this morning at Tourism Forum 2007, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The forum was co-organised by the Tourism Commission and the Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
Adopting the theme, "Quality Travel¡VYour Choice", the forum discussed how infrastructure and software development could support quality travel.
"I believe this exchange of ideas and experiences will further enhance our understanding of the issues and challenges that we are facing, and the actions required to enhance the travel experience of our visitors." Mr Tang said.
Distinguished leaders in the tourism industry worldwide took part in the forum this morning. Chairman of the China National Tourism Administration Mr Shao Qi-wei delivered a keynote speech.
There were about 200 participants from Hong Kong and abroad, comprising leaders of the tourism and related industries, including airlines, hotels, travel agents, retail, catering, restaurant operators and tourism marketing bodies, as well as government representatives.
A spokesman of the Tourism Commission said the forum brought together tourism partners from all over the world for a fruitful exchange of views and promoted action on the part of the industry to enhance their service standards and to foster a conducive environment for delivering high-quality service to visitors and locals alike.
