Launching of buntings display to celebrate 10th Anniversary of HKSAR (with photos)
************************************************************

Colourful buntings representing 18 districts will fly at main streets of respective districts starting tomorrow (June 15) to enhance the festive atmosphere of the 10th Anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

These buntings adopt the design of the champions of the "Bunting Design Competition" organised by the 18 District Offices of the Home Affairs Department in April. In addition, the buntings designed by the Information Service Department representing the Government will also be displayed in all districts.

Officiating at today's prize presentation and launching ceremony of the Bunting Design Competition at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, the Director of Home Affairs, Mrs Pamela Tan, said 460 celebration activities and some 800 district celebration activities were organised by the Government and the community to celebrate the festive occasion.

The bunting design competition is one of the major celebration activities organised by the Home Affairs Department. It aimed at providing an opportunity for people to express their creativity and talent in celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. About 1,000 people took part in the competition.

The set of 18 district buntings as well as the one representing the Government (designed by ISD) will also be displayed at four locations for a month so people will be able to appreciate them all simultaneously.

They are the open areas of Tsim Sha Tsui Bus Terminus, junction of Fleming Road and Harbour Road, junction of Sha Tsui Road and Tai Ho Road and Shatin Rural Committee Road.

Mrs Tan called on Hong Kong people to actively take part in the 10th Anniversary celebration activities to share the joy of the memorable occasion.
