The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (June 12) obtained an order in the District Court for payment of outstanding MPF contributions at about $680,000 against an employer. Meanwhile, the MPFA pursued a claim in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $5,000 on behalf of an employee, who was owed MPF contributions by its employer.
The District Court today issued a judgment against Harvard Engineering Limited. The defendant was ordered to pay the MPFA $684,358.22, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable to 68 employees of the defendant.
At the Tribunal's hearing today, the defendant, ¬x¤å¸gÀç¨}°OÀ\ÆU, did not appear. In its absence, the Adjudicator ordered it to pay the MPFA the sum of $5,488.82, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.
The amounts both awarded at the District Court and the tribunal will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The District Court and the tribunal further ordered each of the respective defendants to pay costs of $930 for the District Court case and $90 for the Tribunal case.
