Laying of Western Cross Harbour Main from West Kowloon to Sai Ying Pun

    The Government intends to provide a new 1,200 millimetres diameter submarine water main between West Kowloon and Sai Ying Pun within an area of approximately 89,720 square metres of foreshore and sea bed at Victoria Harbour.

     This is to provide a new cross-harbour water main to transfer fresh water from Kowloon to Hong Kong thereby maintaining reliability of fresh water transfer to Hong Kong Island.

     The work is scheduled to begin in September, 2008, for completion by August, 2012.

     A notice describing the extent of the area affected is published in the Government Gazette today (June 8).

     The notice together with a related plan can be seen on notice boards posted near the site. The plan can also be inspected at the Lands Department's Survey and Mapping Office, 23rd Floor, North Point Government Offices; the Yau Tsim Mong District Office, Public Enquiry Service Centre, Ground Floor, Mong Kok Government Offices, 30 Luen Wan Street, Mong Kok; and the Central and Western District Office, Public Enquiry Service Centre, Unit 5, Ground Floor, The Centre, 99 Queen's Road Central.

     Any person who has an interest, right or easement in or over the foreshore and sea-bed involved can submit a written objection to the Director of Lands, 20th Floor, North Point Government Offices, on or before August 8, 2007.
