The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (June 7) pursued four claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $68,000 on behalf of 12 employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.
The four defendants, Shiu Cho Kee trading as Luen Yick Photocopy Service, Standard Engineering And Consultancy (Hong Kong) Limited, Le Spa De Beauty & Soul Limited and TG Electric Company Limited, did not appear at today's hearing. In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA $32,309.18, $19,002.42, $13,896.28 and $2,990 being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.
The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The tribunal further awarded $180, $286, $96 and $106 as the costs in respect of the claims.
