"Hong Kong 2006 Population By-census - Basic Tables for District Council Districts", "Hong Kong 2006 Population By-census - Basic Tables for Constituency Areas : Hong Kong Island", "Hong Kong 2006 Population By-census - Basic Tables for Constituency Areas : Kowloon", "Hong Kong 2006 Population By-census - Basic Tables for Constituency Areas : New Territories" and "Hong Kong 2006 Population By-census - Basic Tables for Tertiary Planning Units" compiled by the Census and Statistics Department (C&SD) based on the results of the 2006 Population By-census, are published today (May 31).
The report of "Hong Kong 2006 Population By-census - Basic Tables for District Council Districts" provides statistics on the socio-economic characteristics of the population in Hong Kong by District Council District. This report is organised into three parts. The first part "Summary Statistics" provides key statistics on the population and households in each District Council District. The second part "Age-sex Profile" comprises statistics of the population in each District Council District with breakdown by age and sex. Detailed population and household characteristics in each District Council District are presented in the third part "Basic Tables".
The other four reports provide statistics on the socio-economic characteristics of the population in Hong Kong by Constituency Area and by Tertiary Planning Unit. Each report is organised into two parts. The first part "Summary Statistics" provides key statistics on the population and households in each Constituency Area/Tertiary Planning Unit. Detailed population and household characteristics in each Constituency Area/Tertiary Planning Unit are presented in the second part "Basic Tables".
For the geographical delineation of the statistics provided in these reports, readers may refer to the two map packs entitled "Boundary Maps Complementary to Tables for District Council Districts and Constituency Areas" and "Boundary Maps Complementary to Tables for Tertiary Planning Units", which show the geographical boundaries of District Council Districts/Constituency Areas and Tertiary Planning Units respectively.
All these reports and map packs are now available in bilingual form. Users can download these publications free of charge at the website of the C&SD (www.censtatd.gov.hk/products_and_services/products/publications/index.jsp).
Print version of the reports and map packs are available for sale also. The prices of the reports for District Council Districts, and Constituency Areas on Hong Kong Island, in Kowloon and in the New Territories are $50, $84, $112 and $180 respectively. The price of the report for Tertiary Planning Units is $274. The price of the map pack for District Council Districts and Constituency Areas is $134 and that for Tertiary Planning Units is $80. Purchase can be done in person at the Publications Unit of the C&SD (Address: 19/F Wanchai Tower, 12 Harbour Road, Wan Chai; Tel: 2582 3025) or through mail order by returning a completed order form which can be downloaded from the C&SD's website
