The Secretary for Commerce, Industry and Technology, Mr Joseph WP Wong, left Hong Kong this afternoon (May 29) on a three-day visit to Korea and Japan.
Mr Wong will first fly to Seoul, Korea, where he will meet the Minister of Information and Communication, Mr Rho Jun-hyong, and visit a telecommunications company and the Ubiquitous Dream Hall which showcases the development of the information and communications technologies (ICT) sector in Korea. He will also officiate at the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) 10th Anniversary Reception in Seoul.
In Tokyo, Japan, Mr Wong will attend the HKSAR 10th Anniversary Symposium, organised by the Japan/Hong Kong and Hong Kong/Japan Business Co-operation Committee. He will deliver a keynote speech to update the Japanese business community on Hong Kong's latest economic situation and the commercial relations between Hong Kong and Japan.
Mr Wong will also meet the Senior Vice-Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications, Mr Norihisa Tamura, and the President of NHK, Mr Genichi Hashimoto, to exchange views on the development of the ICT and public broadcasting sectors in the two places. He will officiate at the HKSAR 10th Anniversary Gala Dinner in Tokyo before ending his visit.
Mr Wong will return to Hong Kong on Friday (June 1).
