A snake was found inside the Kowloon Park and caught by a park staff this (May 27) afternoon, a spokesman for the Leisure and Cultural Services Department said.
Shortly after 2pm, a park staff member found a snake of about one metre long and caught it inside the bamboo forest at the Kowloon Park's bird lake. The area is inaccessible to park-goers. The case was immediately reported to the Police with the snake handed over to the Police.
The spokesman said this was a rare incident. Notices had been put up at the park to alert park-goers to be vigilant, and to remind them to avoid any bushy areas as well as to report any unusual sighting to the park management. He added that the staff who caught the snake had previously received training in handling reptiles while working in the Tuen Mun Park.
At around 1.45pm today, one staff member patrolling inside the Hong Kong Park's walk-in aviary also spotted a snake-like-object at about 30 metres below the elevated walkway. The police was called but no snake could be found after a search. Notices were put up to alert park-goers while all park staff had been reminded to remain vigilant.
