Pictured is the Archaefructus liaoningensis which was the most antique archaefructus discovered during t 1996 in Lingyuan, Western Liaoling. Its living period was about 145 million years ago and possessed the main characteristic of angiosperms (flowering plant) that the seeds were wrapped inside the fruits. It was also recognised as the earliest flowering plant on the Earth.
