37 Building plans approved in April

    The Buildings Department approved 37 building plans in April - 14 on Hong Kong Island, six in Kowloon and 17 in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, 13 were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, three were for commercial developments, five were for factory and industrial developments and 16 were for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 11 building projects that, when completed, will provide 87,673 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 1,034 units, and 16,817 square metres of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for nine building projects.

     The department also issued 10 occupation permits - one on Hong Kong Island, four in Kowloon and five in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor areas for domestic use were 83,045 square metres, involving 851 units, and 48,060 square metres for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of the new buildings completed in April totalled about $1.9 billion.

     In addition, six demolition consents involving six building structures were issued.

     The department received 2,017 complaints against unauthorised building works in April, and issued 4,042 removal orders on unauthorised works.
