Festival-goers got the chance to climb the famous bun tower today (May 20) at the climbing event of "2007 Bun Carnival" at the soccer pitch of Cheung Chau Pak Tai Temple Playground.

By making on-site applications for the bun tower climbing play-in of the "Climbing Carnival" jointly organised by the Hong Kong Cheung Chau Bun Festival Committee and the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, they enjoyed the fun and excitement of climbing the 14-metre tall tower which will be used for the Bun Scrambling Competition on May 24.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the climbing event, the Chairman of the Hong Kong Cheung Chau Bun Festival Committee, Mr Yung Chi-ming, noted that this year's games stalls added the themes of the Bun Festival and mountaineering, making the carnival more interesting and attractive. Souvenirs featuring the buns were given to the participants.

The carnival also offered lots of other festive programmes. People enjoyed variety shows like magic performances and traditional Chinese entertainment.

A total of 12 finalists selected on Saturday afternoon (May 19) will enter the Bun Scrambling Competition to be held at midnight on May 24 at the Cheung Chau Pak Tai Temple Playground soccer pitch.
