Appeal for information on serious traffic accident in Sham Shui Po

    Police are investigating a traffic accident in which a 44-year-old woman was seriously injured in Sham Shui Po on May 15.

     Shortly after 11.45 pm on May 15, a light goods vehicle driven by a 28-year-old man was travelling along westbound Woh Chai Street. When it just passed Nam Cheong Street, it reportedly knocked down the 44-year-old woman who was crossing the road. It then crashed into the railings and sideturned.

After the impact, the woman was pushed forward and trapped underneath a taxi parked on the roadside. Sustaining head injuries, she was rescued by firemen and rushed to Princess Margaret Hospital.¡@She is now admitted in critical condition.

     The 28-year-old driver was later arrested for drink driving and dangerous driving. He was released on bail pending further investigation and is required to report back to Police in early June.

     Investigation by Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon West, is underway.
