Report No. 48 of the Director of Audit

    Report No. 48 of the Director of Audit on the results of value for money audits completed between October 2006 and February 2007 was tabled in the Legislative Council this (April 18) morning.

     Value for money audit is an examination into the economy, efficiency and effectiveness with which any bureau of the Government Secretariat, department, agency and other public body has discharged its functions.  Report No. 48 of the Director of Audit covers a variety of subjects on the administration of government programmes and provisions of public services.
 
     Report No. 48 comprises the following eight chapters:

Chapter  Subject

   1     Administration of hotel accommodation tax

   2     Administration of Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute Company Limited

   3     Greening works of the Civil Engineering and Development Department

   4     Management of government fresh food wholesale markets

   5     Management of public rental housing tenancies

   6     Provision of public library services

   7     Student attendance in public schools

   8     Treatment and disposal of sewage sludge
