Two nominations were received by the Returning Officer for the by-election in the Kai Yip Constituency of the Kwun Tong District Council by the close of the nomination period today (April 17).

The Returning Officer will rule on the validity of the nominees' candidature shortly.
A briefing for candidates and their agents will be held at Kwun Tong District Council Conference Room, 3/F, Kwun Tong District Branch Offices Building, 6 Tung Yan Street, Kwun Tong on Saturday (April 21). The Chairman of the Electoral Affairs Commission, Mr Justice Pang Kin-kee, will chair the briefing and introduce the guidelines on election-related activities.
A representative from the Independent Commission Against Corruption will explain the Elections (Corrupt and Illegal Conduct) Ordinance. The Returning Officer and officials of the Registration and Electoral Office, the Post Office and the Department of Justice will also be present.
Voting for a contested election is set for May 20 (Sunday). The returned candidate will fill a vacant seat of an elected member in the Kwun Tong District Council.
