Stanley food factory ordered to suspend business
************************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene Department has ordered a food factory in Stanley to suspend business for 14 days after repeated violations of the Food Business Regulation.

The food factory, at Shop U3, upper ground floor, Chik Tak Mansion, 11 Stanley New Street, was ordered to suspend business from today (April 3) to April 16, a Food and Environmental Hygiene Department spokesman said.

"In October last year and January this year, there were two convictions in respect of illegal extension of food business at the food factory.

"A total fine of $3,500 was levied and 30 points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension," the spokesman said.

He said the same food factory had two convictions in July last year for the same offence.

"A total fine of $4,000 was levied and 30 demerit points were also registered against the licensee. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days from December 28 last year to January 3 this year," the spokesman said.

He reminded licensees of food premises to comply strictly with the Food Business Regulation, otherwise their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
