A spokesperson of Shatin Hospital (SH) made the following announcement today (April 2):
Five female patients (aged 50-94) of a Medicine & Geriatric ward in SH have presented with symptoms of influenza-like illness since March 28. The patients are being treated under isolation in SH and Prince of Wales Hospital. Appropriate tests have been arranged for the patients. Viral test results of them are positive to Influenza A.
Infection control measures have been enhanced in the ward concerned. There will be no new admission and visiting to the ward for the time being. All patients in the ward are under close surveillance.
The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow up.
