The Independent Checking Unit (ICU) in the Housing Department, under delegated authority from the Building Authority, will apply for a Court Order to close the market on the ground floor (including the mezzanine floor above), the supermarket and the carpark on the first floor, East Wing at Hau Tak Shopping Centre, Hau Tak Estate, Tseung Kwan O following a fire last night (March 29).
ˇ§The fire has damaged part of the structure of the market on the ground floor (including the mezzanine floor above), the supermarket and the carpark on the first floor, East Wing at the Hau Tak Shopping Centre. In view of the damage, the premises should be closed to all persons to protect their safety,ˇ¨ a spokesman for the ICU said.
A Notice of Intention to apply for a Closure Order from the Hong Kong District Court on Monday (April 2) to close the premises under Section 27 of the Buildings Ordinance (BO) has been posted on the affected premises today (March 30)
Since 2005, the ICU has started to exercise building control function, in accordance with the requirements of the BO, on the Housing Authorityˇ¦s divested retail and car-parking facilities.
