The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (March 28) obtained an order in the District Court for payment of outstanding MPF contributions at about $60,000 against an employer.
The District Court today issued a judgment against an employer, Lam Yu Wen formerly trading as Wing Hop Frozen Meat and Food Company. The defendant was ordered to pay the MPFA $62,703, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable to three employees of the defendant.
The amount awarded at the District Court will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as it is received by the MPFA. The District Court further awarded payment of $930 for the District Court case.
