*********************************************

The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (March 14) pursued four claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $110,000 on behalf of 11 employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.

At today's hearing, the defendants, Li Shing Tai trading as Friendship Paper Coating Company, Adco Design & Printing Limited and New Comet Investment Limited trading as De-a Paper Products, did not dispute the amounts claimed. The Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA the sums of $39,865.46, $31,304.96 and $26,202.01, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

The other defendant, Kuen Kee Kwok Wing (HK) Transportation and Stevedores Co. Limited, did not appear at today's hearing. In its absence, the Adjudicator ordered it to pay the MPFA the sums of $18,791.11, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The court further awarded payments of $230, $220, $176 and $196 as the costs in respect of the claims.
