CIC to hold first meeting on Friday

The following is issued on behalf of the Construction Industry Council:

     The Construction Industry Council (CIC) will hold its first meeting this Friday (March 9) at 2.30pm in Room 1201, 12/F., Murray Building, Garden Road, Central, Hong Kong.

     The agenda items will include:

(i)   introductory remarks by the Chairman, Mr Keith Kerr;

(ii)  introductory remarks by the Permanent Secretary for  the Environment, Transport and Works (Works), Mr Mak Chai-kwong;

(iii) proposed terms of reference of CIC;

(iv)  house-keeping matters:

      (a) frequency and format of meetings,

      (b) administrative guidelines on meetings and proceedings;

(v)   issues to be followed up by CIC and proposed committee structure of CIC;

(vi)  nomination and voting arrangements for election of Chairmen of Committees;

(vii) issues in connection with the establishment of CIC:

      (a) office accommodation for CIC,

      (b) funding arrangements for establishing CIC,

      (c) amalgamation of CIC and the Construction Industry Training Authority;

¡¯(viii)  recruitment of Executive Director for CIC; and

¡¯(ix)  executive search agency for the Executive Director ¡V latest position and endorsement of the draft consultancy brief and agreement.

     The public are welcome to observe the proceedings of the meeting. Seats will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis because of limited space.

     Due to commercial sensitivity, the discussion on the last two items will not be open to the public.
