Hong Kong Cultural Centre Open House on Sunday

    The Hong Kong Cultural Centre (HKCC) Open House will be held from 2pm to 6pm on Sunday (November 19) for the public to enjoy the fusion of vibrant and exotic performances, including a Western percussion concert, dance gala, a frame drum concert, a cappella concert, a Chinese percussion concert, roving clowns and jugglers and more.

     Young percussionists from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts will make magic with Chinese and Western instruments and charge the foyer stage of HKCC with high voltage tunes. Local dance veterans and budding stars will perform a joyous Southeast Asian dance with playful movements and costumes in dazzling colours. John Lee and his students will perform with one of the oldest and most versatile musical instruments, the frame drums.

     Not to be missed are the cappella concert by the Gay Singers and the closing performances by the young Latin dancers, the Jazz and Tap Dance Workshop and Clown, Magic and Juggling Workshops ¡V part of the HKCC Education Series 2006.

     There will also be dance performances by the City Contemporary Dance Company.

     Hand-made by the Austrian specialist, Rieger Orgelbau, the pipe organ of the HKCC is the largest in Southeast Asia. A special programme, "King of Instruments" HKCC Organ Demonstration Concert will be held at the Concert Hall of HKCC at 8.30pm. There will be an introduction of the structure and mechanism of the organ in Cantonese with a live demonstration. Free tickets are now available on a first-come, first served basis from the HKCC Enquiry Counter and with a limit of four tickets per person.

     No admission ticket is required for foyer and piazza programmes of the Open House and souvenirs will be given to the public in the event.
