Following is the transcript of the remarks made to the media by the Secretary for Security, Mr Ambrose S K Lee, today (September 20) on the safety of Hong Kong residents in Thailand:
Secretary for Security: We note that there was a coup in Thailand last night. We immediately contacted our embassy as well as the Travel Industry Council of Hong Kong. The latest news is that all Hong Kong residents in Thailand are quite safe. We have not received any request for assistance. I wish to appeal to Hong Kong residents in Thailand to take care of themselves, their property and their personal safety. If they want any help, they can contact our embassy in Bangkok, or they can telephone the Immigration Department's 24 hour Hotline 1868.
