MPFA recovers MPF non-payment for 19 employees

    The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (September 19) pursued eight claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $220,000 on behalf of 19 employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.

     At today's hearing, defendants Sun Wing Transportation (HK-China) Limited, MPS Engineering Limited and Aura Eduardo Seremos, Aura Angelita S. trading as Aura Employment Agency, did not dispute the amounts claimed.  The Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA the sums of $34,440, $31,265.21 and $4,511.25, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

     The other five defendants, Pascon Industry Limited, Chan Wood Shek trading as Syntac Technologies Company, Top Host Development Limited trading as Tai Hei Hing Shark's Fin Restaurant, Spotting Media Limited and Harmony Pacific Company Limited, did not appear at today's hearing.  In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA the sums of $44,625, $44,267.28, $39,596.93, $19,993.46 and $5,670, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

     The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA.  The court further awarded payments of $270, $210, $170, $340, $230, $170, $330 and $80 as the costs in respect of the claims.
