The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (September 18) pursued a claim in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $12,000 on behalf of two employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.
The defendant, Top Host Development Limited trading as Tai Hei Hing Shark's Fin Restaurant, did not appear at today's hearing. In its absence, the Adjudicator ordered it to pay the MPFA the sum of $12,793.32, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharge payable.
The amount awarded will be reimbursed to the employee's MPF account as soon as it is received by the MPFA. The court further awarded payment of $370 as cost in respect of the claim.
