National Judicial Examination Held in Hong Kong
***********************************************

A total of 181 Hong Kong residents have applied to take part in the two-day National Judicial Examination today (September 16) and tomorrow (September 17). This is the second year in which examination centres are set up in Hong Kong to facilitate Hong Kong residents taking this examination.

The examination, organised by the Ministry of Justice (MoJ), is held simultaneously in different parts of the Mainland.

The examination in Hong Kong is held at Delia Memorial School (Yuet Wah) in Kwun Tong and Islamic Kasim Tuet Memorial College, Chai Wan.

Officials of the Ministry of Justice and Department of Justice toured the examination centres this morning and were satisfied with the arrangements.

Under the Mainland and Hong Kong Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (CEPA), which came into effect on January 1, 2004, Hong Kong permanent residents with Chinese citizenship are allowed to sit the National Judicial Examination. These residents will be granted a restricted right to practise on the Mainland after passing the examination.
