The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (September 15) pursued two claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $10,000 on behalf of two employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.
The two defendants, Creative Eco-energy Investment Group Limited and Yeung Muk Choi, Cheng Kam Hei trading as Sun Cheong Kee Noodles, did not appear at today's hearing. In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA the sums of $9,817.5 and $1,061.29, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.
The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The court further awarded payments of $220 and $150 as the costs in respect of the claims.
