The public is invited to visit an exhibition of winning entries in the 31st Hong Kong Youth Cultural and Arts Competitions at the Exhibition Hall, Lower Block, Hong Kong City Hall, Central tomorrow and Sunday (September 16 and 17). Admission is free.
Sponsored by the Home Affairs Department and jointly organised by community organisations, this annual exhibition features more than 350 winning pieces from the Hong Kong Youth Cultural and Arts Competitions, including Chinese calligraphy and painting, Western painting, essay and story writing, photography, slogan and poster design, translation, paper-clay model design, Chinese couplets and poetry.
Also, video clips showing an inter-primary school quiz, speech contests, classical Chinese poetry and Putonghua recitation competitions will be screened.
Prominent calligraphists and painters will give demonstrations after the opening ceremony tomorrow with Assistant Director of Home Affairs, Mr Richard Luk, officiating. The works will then be given away to visitors as souvenirs.
The exhibition will be open from 2.30pm to 6pm tomorrow (September 16) and from 10am to 6pm on Sunday (September 17).
The Hong Kong Youth Cultural and Arts Competitions, sponsored by the Home Affairs Department and jointly organised by community organisations, aim to promote interest in and understanding of the Chinese language, arts and culture. They also encourage young people to participate in healthy extra-curricular activities. This year's competitions attracted more than 20,000 entrants in 17 categories.
