The Financial Secretary, Mr Henry Tang, will leave Hong Kong for Singapore on Sunday (September 17) to attend the 2006 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group.
Mr Tang will attend the opening plenary session of the IMF and World Bank meetings on Tuesday (September 19). He will also make use of the opportunity to meet with finance ministers and central bankers of other economies to exchange views on global and regional economic development.
During his stay in Singapore, Mr Tang will provide an update on Hong Kong's latest economic developments to representatives from the international financial community, credit rating agencies and the media.
He will return to Hong Kong on Tuesday evening. During Mr Tang's absence from Hong Kong, Mr Stephen Ip, Secretary for Economic Development and Labour, will act as Financial Secretary in addition to his own duties.
