United Nations Sanctions (Liberia) Regulation 2005 (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulation 2006

    The Government today (September 15) gazetted the United Nations Sanctions (Liberia) Regulation 2005 (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulation 2006.

     "The Regulation implements sanctions imposed by the United Nations Security Council under Resolutions 1683 and 1689," a Government spokesman said.

     The United Nations Sanctions (Liberia) Regulation 2005 (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulation 2006 renews the sanction against importation of rough diamonds from Liberia and relaxes the restrictions on supplies of arms and related materials to the Liberian police and security forces as approved in advance by the relevant United Nations Committee.

     The provisions in the Amendment Regulation will expire at midnight on December 19, 2006.
