Free exhibition to promote greening at home
*******************************************

A small green corner at home or workplace can comfort tired eyes while the pleasant scent of some plants can uplift our spirits.

To enhance public interest in horticulture and to generate an awareness of greening, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department will organise a horticulture education exhibition to promote greening at home this Saturday and Sunday (September 16 and 17) from 10am to 4pm at the Arcade of Kowloon Park. Admission is free.

Through the descriptions on the display panels, members of the public can learn about the common house plants, including flowering plants, leafy plants, water-culture plants and easy-care plants suitable for busy city-dwellers. The exhibition will also introduce bottle gardens, water culture, miniature gardens and hanging baskets, which are popular methods of home decoration.

Fringe activities including a crossword puzzle and a demonstration of how to make recycled paper will be held at the Kowloon Park Arcade. Children can also share the fun of pot planting under the guidance of horticulture instructors and staff of the department.

A talk entitled "Introduction and Maintenance of House Plants" will be given at the Secondary Hall of the Kowloon Park Sports Centre, and workshops on water culture and miniature gardens will be held at the Green Education and Resource Centre.
