Electors urged to vote in Eastern DC by-election tomorrow
*********************************************************

Electors of the Tsui Wan Constituency are urged to vote in tomorrow's (September 10) Eastern District Council by-election.

The polling station, at the SKH Li Fook Hing Secondary School, Tsui Wan Street, Tsui Wan Estate, Chai Wan, will be open to voters from 7.30am to 10.30pm.

The two candidates contesting the by-election are: No 1, Ku Kwai Yiu; and No 2, Keung Suk Man.

A spokesman for the Registration and Electoral Office said today (September 9) that it would take just a few minutes for people to vote.

"All a voter needs to do is to show his identity card at the designated polling station and use the chop provided to stamp the ballot paper with a tick in the circle opposite the name of the candidate of his choice before he puts it in the ballot box," he said.

Once the poll is closed, the polling station will be turned into the counting station, and people are welcome to watch the counting of votes.

The spokesman warned that a polling station was a restricted area accessible only to electors and authorised people.

"Using mobile phones or photographing, filming and making video or audio recordings in a polling station by unauthorised people is strictly prohibited," he said.

An election hotline, 2891 1001, will be in service from 7am to 11pm on polling day to answer enquiries relating to electoral matters, including the location of the polling station.

A complaints hotline, 2827 7251, will also operate from 7.30am to 10.30pm on polling day to handle complaints about breaches of electoral rules and guidelines.

The successful candidate will fill a vacant seat in the Eastern District Council.
