The Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Mr Frederick Ma, will depart for Hanoi tomorrow (September 6) to attend the 13th Finance Ministers' Meeting of the Asia Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC).
The themes of this year's meeting are "Promoting Public Finance Efficiency and Sustainability: Towards Stable and Efficient Revenue Sources" and "Financial Sector Reform to Attract Capital Flows".
While attending the two-day programme, Mr Ma will exchange views with finance ministers from other member economies, international organisations and representatives of the business sector on issues relating to the two themes of the Finance Ministers' Meeting. He will speak at, among other events, the plenary session that focuses on financial sector reform to attract capital flow.
APEC was established in 1989 to further enhance economic growth and prosperity for the region and to strengthen the Asia-Pacific community. Member economies of APEC are Australia; Brunei Darusaalam; Canada; Chile; China; Hong Kong, China; Indonesia; Japan; Korea; Malaysia; Mexico; New Zealand; Papua New Guinea; Peru; the Philippines; Russia; Singapore; Chinese Taipei; Thailand; the United States of America and Viet Nam.
