In response to press enquiries, the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department's Centre for Food Safety (CFS) said today (September 4) that contacts with the relevant Mainland authorities confirmed that the freshwater fish samples with unsatisfactory test results found in a Guangdong fish survey did not come from registered farms supplying fish to Hong Kong.
"At present, all freshwater fish exported from the Mainland are accompanied by health certificates certifying that the fish are fit for human consumption and free from prohibited drugs," a CFS spokesman said.
