Chance for inventors in "Quality Living" competition

    The Innovation and Technology Commission (ITC) is inviting local inventors or people interested in innovative inventions to submit entries for the "My Favourite Inventions for Quality Living" Competition 2006.


     "The competition is to recognise outstanding inventions and encourage people to create more inventions that can benefit the community. Inventions submitted must be related to the improvement of quality of living," an ITC spokesman said today (September 4).

     The competition, a core programme under the "Innovation Festival 06" to be held from mid-October to early December, 2006, aims to sustain the awareness, interests and support of the public, in particular the younger generation, in innovation and technology; promote local innovators' achievements to enhance youth interest, knowledge and aspirations in innovation and technology; and to promote Hong Kong as a city of innovation.

     "The competition has two categories: Junior (aged between 10 to 17) and Adult (aged 18 or above).  Finalists' projects will be showcased at a series of roadshows to enable public voting during the "Innovation Festival 06".  The champion of each category will receive prizemoney of $10,000 and a trophy," the spokesman said.
