Cyberport Dever combines innovation and creativity

     The Cyberport Digital Entertainment Fever (Cyberport DEver) was launched at the Cyberport today (August 25) to foster creativity among the younger generation and inspire a new thinking on the influence that digital entertainment brings to society and the environment.

     Speaking at the opening ceremony, Acting Permanent Secretary for Commerce, Industry and Technology, (Communications and Technology), Mrs Marion Lai, said Cyberport DEver provided a unique and inspiring opportunity for professionals in the digital and multimedia industry to share their experience and ideas. "It will not only increase the public's understanding on how digital technologies penetrate into our daily life, but also enhance the development of the digital and multimedia industry," she said.

     "Cyberport positions as the vanguard of the world's advanced technology by providing a platform for digital development," the Chief Executive Officer of Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited, Mr Nicholas Yang, said. "The three-day programme features various activities aiming to enrich the public's reaches on the digital culture; develop teenagers' potential and creativity for bringing new digital ideas to our society."

     Organised by the Hong Kong Cyberport, the programme has integrated multiple elements such as music, games and animations. It is open and free to the public to encourage mass participation. Renowned DJ Sammy Leung was the master of the ceremonies and local singer Vincy Chan performed.

     Cyberport has organised a series of auction and charity events throughout the three-day programme. During the opening ceremony today, several items available for public auction were: "The Three Kings" masterpiece with Tony Wong's signature, stamps and "first day issue" of "Dragon Tiger Heroes", Jay Chow figures in limited edition and a pair of stylish Arnold Palmer shoes in limited edition. Another series of charity sales are organised from today to Sunday (August 27). Items for sale included w-inds.'s posters, tees, organisers, Everlast tees limited edition, Jidou watches, several game softwares and Keroro coin bags. All collected funds will be donated to Ronald McDonald House for helping the ill and hospitalised children and their families.

     Cyberport DEver aims at inspiring the young generation in digital entertainment. This event will be held until Sunday (August 27) at the Ocean View Court of the Arcade at Cyberport with  events including Figure Show, Chinese Hero and Dragon Tiger Heroes Show, w-inds. Video Concert 2006, ROM Mini-Concert, CosPlay Competition, Animax Premiere, Game Showcase, Cyberport.tv Preview, The Final Episode of "Jidougames", Music Crossover and Lucky Draw. The programme helps propel the future growth of digital entertainment industries.
