Running from tomorrow (August 25) to November 26 at the Hong Kong Museum of Art, the exhibition, "Likeness and Unlikeness: A Selection of Works by Qi Baishi from the Liaoning Provincial Museum", features about 80 works including ink paintings, calligraphy and seals which highlight the achievements of this master of modern Chinese painting. Pictured is one of the exhibits, "Insects and Flowers". Qi intertwined his rural life with his works. This is reflected in his fondness of painting objects commonly seen in everyday life such as reeds, hay and insects in the fields; fish, frogs, shrimps and crabs in the ponds; and sunrises and sunsets against the hills.
