Running from tomorrow (August 25) to November 26 at the Hong Kong Museum of Art, the exhibition, "Likeness and Unlikeness: A Selection of Works by Qi Baishi from the Liaoning Provincial Museum", features about 80 works including ink paintings, calligraphy and seals which highlight the achievements of this master of modern Chinese painting. Pictured is one of the exhibits, "Live Shrimps". The shrimp is a signature of Qi. Few people can resist the charm of the translucent shrimp that Qi brought to life with the least number of brushstrokes and seemingly uncalculated interplay of light and dark ink on rice paper.
