Running from tomorrow (August 25) to November 26 at the Hong Kong Museum of Art, the exhibition, "Likeness and Unlikeness: A Selection of Works by Qi Baishi from the Liaoning Provincial Museum", features about 80 works including ink paintings, calligraphy and seals which highlight the achievements of this master of modern Chinese painting. Pictured is one of the exhibits, "Children Playing with Kites", an early work of Qi. The figures are painted with dexterity and an economy of lines. The occasional bright tints and the vividness of movements bring out the childlike charm. |
