The first two consignments, totalling 7,250 kilogrammes, of chilled pork imported from the Mainland today (August 23) have all passed the inspections and chemical tests.
"Samples were collected from each consignment upon arrival at Man Kam To for the testing of veterinary drug residues," a spokesman for the Centre of Food Safety (CFS) of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department said.
"Results of laboratory tests confirmed this afternoon that all the samples were satisfactory.
"The chilled pork has been released for sale," the spokesman said.
Under the arrangement agreed by the State General Administration of the Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine and the CFS, stringent control measures have been implemented to ensure that the chilled pork imported is safe for consumption.
