The Government will meet The Real Estate Developers Association of Hong Kong (REDA), the Consumer Council and the Estate Agents Authority on Friday (August 25) to address public concerns in a number of areas in connection with the private sale of uncompleted residential units.
These areas include the availability of a price list for a meaningful number of units available for sale to prospective home buyers at least 24 hours before the commencement of private sale; the provision of an updated price list when additional units are offered; and the issue of payment of deposit or registration fee.
A spokesman for the Housing, Planning and Lands Bureau said that the Government took seriously recent reports that some developers did not comply with the spirit of REDA's guidelines.
"If improvements to current measures cannot achieve the desired effect, the Government will not rule out the possibility of introducing stringent measures to regulate sale of uncompleted residential units, including the option of legislative control," the spokesman said.
