Since August 18, four female patients (aged 33 to 44) and one staff member of a severe mentally handicapped ward have presented with diarrhoea and vomiting. The patients have been transferred to the isolation ward of Tuen Mun Hospital for further management. All of them are in a stable condition. The staff member is now on sick leave. Appropriate tests are being given to the patients and the results are pending.

Infection control measures have been stepped up in the ward and all patients and health care staff are under close medical surveillance.
