Lands Department takes possession of Kwun Yam Shan site
*******************************************************

The Sha Tin District Lands Office this morning (August 17) took possession of a short-term tenancy (STT) site in Kwun Yam Shan, Sha Tin, a spokesman for the Lands Department said.

"As demolition of all structures, clearance and reinstatement of the site were still in progress, the Sha Tin District Lands Office has required the former tenant to remove all structures within two weeks, and clear and reinstate the site in the subsequent two weeks. The former tenant is also required to pay the fees involved," the spokesman said.

The Sha Tin District Lands Office received notification from the tenant on August 9 to terminate the tenancy voluntarily on August 16. The Sha Tin District Lands Office accepted the decision.

"The Lands Department is seeking legal advice on whether to demand the former tenant to pay the difference in rental for previous unauthorised change of land use," the spokesman added.

"The Director of Lands will give an account of the STT case at the meeting of the Panel on Planning, Lands and Works of the Legislative Council on September 20."
