A Government spokesman announced today (August 15) that the Government had accepted the resignation of Mr Daniel Heung as Chairman of the Committee on the Promotion of Civic Education (CPCE).
Mr Heung tendered his resignation today, with immediate effect.
The spokesman said: "We thank Mr Heung for his valuable contribution to the CPCE during his term of service, in particular his efforts on the promotion of national education."
The spokesman also said that the work of CPCE would continue according to the work plan for 2006-07 which had been agreed earlier by the committee. All existing and planned activities and promotional programmes would be implemented as scheduled.
The Government has appointed Dr Pang King-chee as CPCE Chairman with effect from today until March 31, 2007. Dr Pang is the former Vice-President of The Hong Kong Institute of Education. He has been serving on the CPCE for more than five years and is currently the convenor of the Research and Resource Development Sub-committee.
