The Labour Department will stage a two-day job fair from Wednesday (August 16) at Tuen Mun Town Hall, providing more than 4,500 vacancies.
A total of 40 private companies will participate in the event and offer over 3,300 vacancies. About 20 companies will take part in the fair each day. The Hong Kong Police Force will also be accepting applications for over 1,200 vacancies for police officers on the first day of the fair.
The companies come from various trades and industries, including catering, retail, banking, business services, property management and security, manufacturing sectors and aviation relate industries.
The vacancies offered cover a variety of positions, including shop manager, executive officer, officer trainee, customer service officer, sales, shop assistant, waiter, cook, cleaning worker, security guard, care home attendant, technician, maintenance trainee and Police Constable.
About 80% of the vacancies offered by the private companies are full-time jobs. Most of them offer a monthly salary ranging from $5,000 to $10,000. More than 90% of the vacancies require Form 5 educational level or below. More than 70% of them are open to job-seekers without relevant experience. Job-seekers can submit applications on the spot and may be selected for on-site interviews.
In addition, the Labour Department will conduct on-the-spot job registration.
The job fair will be held from 11am to 6pm at Exhibition Gallery, 1/F, Tuen Mun Town Hall, 3 Tuen Hi Road, Tuen Mun. Admission is free.
