The following is issued on behalf of the Electoral Affairs Commission:
The Electoral Affairs Commission (EAC) is consulting the public on the proposed boundaries and names of the constituencies for the District Council Election in 2007. The consultation exercise will run until August 25.
A commission spokesman today (August 13) called for participation at public forums for different constituencies on Tuesday and Wednesday (August 15 and 16).
"Both consenting and dissenting views on the provisional boundaries and names of the constituencies are welcome," he said.
The final recommendations, which will take into account representations received during the consultation period, will be submitted to the Chief Executive in November.
On August 15, public forums will be held for the constituencies in Hong Kong Island and Kowloon, and on August 16, for constituencies in the New Territories East and West. Details are as follows:
