The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in July showed a marginal decrease of 48 cases, which was insignificant in terms of month-to-month rate of change when compared with the figure in June, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (August 9).
Total CSSA caseload at the end of July stood at 296,568, with a total of 534,495 recipients.
Analysed by case nature, unemployment cases showed a continued month-to-month decrease of 0.9% in July to 39,175.
Single parent cases registered a month-to-month slight increase of 0.1% in July to 39,257, which had not been seen since September, 2005.
Low earning cases continued to rise in July by 0.4% to stand at 18,438.
Total government expenditure on CSSA payments was $17.6 billion for 2004-05.
