Two employers were fined $45,000 at the Kwun Tong Magistracy today (August 7), after being convicted of offences under the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Ordinance (Cap. 485).
For the case of Vincent Industrial (Hong Kong) Limited (BR no.: 31537721), which was charged with an offence under section 7A(8) of the Ordinance, the defendant pleaded guilty to seven counts of failing to make MPF contributions for two employees within the prescribed time for the contribution period in September to December 2005 and September to November 2005 respectively. The defendant was fined $6,000 for the first summons and $3,000 each for the remaining summonses, totalling $24,000.
For the case of Boomchamp Company Limited (BR no.: 16365676), which was charged with an offence under section 7A(8) of the Ordinance, the defendant pleaded guilty to six counts of failing to make MPF contributions within the prescribed time for the contribution period in September 2004 to February 2005. The defendant was fined $6,000 for the first summons and $3,000 each for the remaining summonses, totalling $21,000.
