The electronic version of the 2005/06 Profile of Kindergartens and Kindergarten-cum-Child Care Centres (Profile) was released today (August 4) to provide parents with essential information to help them choose pre-primary institutions.
The Profile (formerly known as the Profile of Kindergartens) has been published jointly by the Education and Manpower Bureau (EMB) and the Committee on Home-School Co-operation (CHSC) since 2000.
Upon harmonisation of pre-primary services effective from September 2005, the Profile has for the first time provided information about some 400 kindergarten-cum-child care centres. More than 1,000 pre-primary institutions are included in the Profile this year.
Parents can also find on the Profile links to information on "Quality Assurance Inspection Summary Reports" and "Good Practices" on pre-primary education to give them a better grasp of the latest information and development of pre-primary education. Meanwhile, a link to the "Child Care Services" website of the Social Welfare Department is also available so parents can access the details of such services. The Profile is also printed in English.
Parents can browse through the Profile on the homepages of the EMB and CHSC at http://www.emb.gov.hk and http://embhsc.hkedcity.net respectively.
From August 18, hardcopies of the Profile will be available at EMB's Regional Education Offices, Department of Heath's Maternal and Child Health Centres, Social Welfare Department's Family Services Centres and Home Affairs Department Public Enquiry Service Centres for those who have no access to the internet.
