*************************

A spokesperson of Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) made the following announcement today (July 31):

Five male patients (aged 75 to 90) of a medical ward have presented with diarrhoea symptoms since July 27.  The patients concerned were treated under isolation upon presenting the above symptoms.  They are in stable condition and are put on appropriate isolations precautions.  The test results of all patients were eventually turned out to be positive to Norovirus.

Admission to the ward has been suspended while visiting arrangement remains normal. Infection control measures have been stepped up in the ward. All patients are under close surveillance.

QEH Infection Control Team has reported the cases to the Hospital Authority and the Centre for Health Protection.
