LLB members visit licensed liquor premises (with photo)

The following is issued on behalf of the Liquor Licensing Board:-
     
     Members of the Liquor Licensing Board early this morning (July 30) visited a number of premises with liquor licences to gain first-hand information about their operation.

     Led by the Chairman of the Board, Mr Felix Fong, the group saw for themselves how the Police conducted inspections at these premises in Wan Chai, Central and Tsim Sha Tsui.

     The visit was to enable Board members to better understand the operation of different types of premises with liquor licences and the enforcement action by the Police.

     During the visit, members were briefed by the police on various issues related to liquor licence applications, including crowd control, noise nuisance and traffic flow in the vicinity.

     In 2005, the Board issued 704 new licences and renewed 4 669 liquor and club liquor licences.

     Members of the Board participating in the visit were Ms Mar Yuet-har (Vice-chairman), Mr Chan Chit-kwai, Mr Cheung Fo-tai, Mr Lee Chee-wah, and Ms Lam Chui-lin. Also joining them was the Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene, Mr Eddy Chan.
